My name is Laura and I am a videographer based in the West of Ireland. I enjoy collaborating with my clients and finding ways to capture what is important to them whether that is making pancakes with their children on a Sunday morning or capturing an event they’ve been planning for months. In regards to my style, I am not one for posing or using artificial light, but prefer to capture the moment as it is happening.
Here are the different types of short films I create.
- Lifestyle videos: Family | Children | Infants
- Artists: Profiles | Workshops
- Events: Festivals | Education
Unlike many filmmakers, I did not grow up with a camera in hand from a young age. It wasn’t until I started travelling in my early 20’s that photography started becoming a part of my life. Very quickly after getting my first camera and realising what it offered, I became interested in capturing the individuals, places, and cultures that were weaving in and out of my life. I was fascinated with our relationships to each other and our environments and capturing these types of moments became a thrilling challenge.
Over time I became more interested in movement and started delving more deeply into videography. Since starting Soft Day Media in 2017, I have worked with a wide range of visual artists, documented many arts festivals and captured intimate moments within families.
Life can be fast paced and I find joy in being able to capture what is important to you here and now, whether that be simple moments within everyday family life, documenting an event you have put time and energy into, or capturing you in your artistic flow. These are moments that become more special as years go by.
“It’s a grand soft day, thank God” is a phrase that is uniquely Irish and can be described as Irish weather that is between mist and drizzle. The moisture seems to just linger in the air and yet before you know it, you are soaked.
Having moved to Ireland, specifically the Wild Atlantic Way, I have experienced many of these soft days. This name is a simple reminder of the uniqueness of where I live and where Soft Day Media started.
Each project is unique and I aim to use my creative eyes and find ways to tell your story in visually exciting way.
Capturing the unplanned, unposed moments.
Constantly looking at ways to improve with each new project and collaboration.

"From the start Laura was super organised and it helped me to be clear about what I wanted from the videos she created for us. Identifying the brief, agreeing a timeline and delivery of the project was faultless from start to finish. She delivered two well considered and professionally edited videos that were exactly what we asked for. As well as her professional abilities Laura is a wonderful person to work with and I would definitely use her services again in the future."
